URBAN WEAR 4 PLUS I am disappointed in this boot because I own an older pair of Hi-Tec Altitude IV boots that have worked out extremely well for me.I thought that the Altitude Ultra Light would be an upgrade, essentially the same boot with a Vibram outsole and better water-resistance (no hiking boot is waterproof). But to my dismay, I discovered that the Altitude Ultra Light is a different boot altogether. They are extremely uncomfortable because the layer right beneath the insole - which provides only minimal cushioning - is made out of hard plastic. I wonder whether it is actually the midsole. I have just never seen a boot with hard plastic right underneath the insole. I mean, it's as hard as the plastic of my kayak.Because of the hard plastic, that layer will never be able to conform to the foot shape. As it is, the boot is just a real pain to wear on anything but the softest ground. My feet hurt like hell after walking a dirt road for just 2 miles, the same stretch of dirt I have walked a hundred times before without any problems whatsoever. I have tried Superfeet insoles, which help a little, but also raise up my heel to the point where my ankle slips.Note that the boot has good flexibility, which is a good thing in my book. But even with that flexibility, the boot is still uncomfortable, due simply to the hard plastic "midsole" (if that's what it is). In other words, it's not a matter of breaking in the boot. The boot is otherwise perfectly soft and comfortable. One final thought: The "full grain" leather is of questionable quality. The top layer scratches extremely easily, and the leather as a whole seems flimsy. Maybe, this is to be expected from a light-weight boot, I don't know. But it seems obvious that once the top layer comes off, water resistance will go down significantly because the ion treatment is applied to the top layer of the boot.Anyway, I returned the boots to for a refund, which they graciously agreed to issue. I do appreciate that.
I've just got my sandals and they both look and feel great. They're very comfortable and could be worn under pants or skirts.Recommended.
URBAN WEAR 4 PLUS I allways liked Keds slip on shoes. I seen the new Keds Champs for men on their web site, but the smallest size is a mens 8. I wear a size 7. My wife asked me if they made the womens shoe in a wide size. After checking around and finding that they do, she told me to order a wide shoe in the womens size and try that. I ordered the Keds slip on size 8 wide and when I got them they fit perfectly. The all black looks great and looks just like the mens Keds. If you like slip ons you need to try this shoe. The shipping was good and they kept me up to date by e-mail. I plan to get the all white Keds next.
